Save the Memorial Oak Grove
“Save the Memorial Oak Grove” was the first community action to protect Berkeley's Memorial Stadium Oak Grove. This recording of events took place nearly a month prior to the actual start of the 644-day community tree-sit. These community's actions became a kickoff to what was to become our country’s longest urban tree-sit. The video documents both the "Circle of the Oaks" ceremony at the Memorial Oak Grove and the rally later that day on Sproul Plaza of the U.C. Berkeley campus. Participants included both students and community members with special appearances by Berkeley's Wavy Gravy and City Council Member Dona Spring. November 9, 2006.
