Press Release: Allan Nairn: Heroic Journalist and Activist

Allan Nairn recently returned from East Timor, where he risked his personal safety as one of the few Western journalists toremain in Dili after the Indonesian military and their militias escalated a scorched-earth campaign against the civilian population. Day after day, Allan continued to post eyewitness dispatches, even from a jail cell after being arrested. He also released detailed information about U.S. support for the repressive Indonesian regime. Allan talked about his experiences in East Timor and future prospects for peace and justice in the region. Program to benefit Global Exchange and KPFA.
