Program Notes:
Zakarias Grafilo (violin) began his musical studies: at the age of 4 Suzuki Method at San Francisco State University. At the age of 10, he was accepted into the reparatory Department at the San Francisco Conservatory of music where he received training in Solfege and Chamber Music. At 17, Mr. Grafilo became the Concertmaster of the San Francisco Symphony youth Orchestra. He continued his education at UCLA where he was the co-concertmaster of the UCLA Philharmonia and the assistant concertmaster of the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra. While at tJCLA, he, along with four colleagues, were awarded First Prize at the Music Teacher's Association of California-Voce Chamber Music Competition in 1995. He also has participated in chamber music master classes led by artists such as Alexander Treger, Peter Oundjian, and the Eroica Trio. Presently, Mr. Grafilo is an intern for the San Francisco Symphony youth Orchestra where he acts as the orchestra's Librarian and Assistant Personnel Manager. In addition, he is on faculty at the Marin Music Conservatory. Mr. Grafilo's principal teacher was Serban Rusu.

Sharon Yumae Hendee (violin) received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from California State University at Hayward in 1990 where she studied with Nathan Rubin, Concertmaster of the Oakland East Bay Symphony . While attending CSUH she was Concertmaster of the University Symphony and was twice a recipient of the Harold Whelan memorial Scholarship for Outstanding String Instrumentalist. Sharon has since enjoyed a busy career as a free-lance violinist and instructor performing regularly with symphonies throughout Northern California and is in her sixth season with the Santa Cruz County Symphony. Ms. Hendee has performed in numerous recitals including Solano County's Festival of the Classics last spring.

Eugene Sor (cello) was a scholarship student of Mildred Rosner at San Francisco State University, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in 1993. In 1996 Mr. Sor completed his Master of Music degree at UCLA. where he was Principal Cellist pf the UCLA Philharmonia and cellist of the UCLA Piano Quartet. Whelen at UCLA, Eugene studied with Los Angeles Philharmonic cellist Barry Cold. Currently, Mr. Sor performs with the Stockton Symphony and ii the Director of the Advanced String Program at Black Pine Circle School in Berkeley Ca. Future plans include a return to Hayward-La Honda Summer Music Camp as conductor of the Junior Orchestra.

Darcy Rindt (viola) holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University o, California at Santa Cruz where she studied with Roy Malan, concert master of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra. and was member of the Redwood String Quartet, the University's first resident student string quartet and is featured on a number of recordings. Currently, she is working toward a Master of music in Viola Performance at San Francisco State University where she studies under the auspices of Yarbrough, violist of the internationally acclaimed Alexander String Quartet. This year marks Ms. Rindt's second year as Associate Principle Viola in the Santa Cruz"County Symphony

Live Oak Concerts was an ongoing, year-round series of classical music concerts featuring many of the best and emerging musicians from the greater Bay Area, and from around the country and abroad. The concert series presents an average of thirty concerts per year. The superb acoustics of the gallery of the Berkeley Art Center has proven to be a jewel for the presentation of live classical music. Cable Television Series...
